AMR OSAMA

Egypt

Inbound, April 2018; Outbound, Dec. 2019

Amr Osama, Training Official at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Aswan, Egypt, took part in this exchange to learn how to create new solutions and opportunities for youth in Egypt. After hearing from Dr. Daniel Tutt of George Washington University, Amr gained a new perspective on social unity, which led him to conduct trainings for villages in Egypt to increase community cohesion. Through his interaction with the Maine Police Center in Freeport (SEALSFit), Amr learned about the power of community support and has a new hope for implementing projects in his home country. Since the exchange, he has participated in the Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit in Luxor, TIEC Innovation Camp—Faculty of Engineering, Aswan University, Youth Camp for Entrepreneurship, African Innova-tion Camp in Aswan, and implemented training courses to support youth and the community both in the public and private sector.

The Youth Community Centers in Egypt exchange brought a delegation from Egypt to the U.S. to explore topics such as arts, sports, and cultural program management with the goal of empowering youth community engagement to combat conflict and violence.
